Psychotherapy is a conversation which helps us to live a better life. It is a unique space in which we can usefully examine ourselves, our relationships and our experiences. Psychotherapy lets us do this at our own pace, in the company of a person who is not directly involved in our day-to-day life.
People come to therapy for different reasons. Some are looking for support in coping with difficult feelings like anxiety or depression that may have affected them for a long time. Others come to resolve an immediate crisis in their current life, or to work through past events that still affect them in a negative way. Some are seeking to understand themselves better, or find a different perspective as they enter a new phase of life.
Often, people come for more than one reason, and go on to discover unexpected ways to make use of therapy once they have started.
